SUMMARY:Empowerment in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Pennsylvania Women Work is hosting a free course in June for professional women. The course will give them tools to overcome workplace challenges and maximize their impact. \nLearn More\nEmpowerment in the Workplace is aimed at women who are working and can bring their successes and challenges to share with the class. The seven-hour course consists of interactive classroom time and a panel discussion with women leaders. \nTopics covered in the course include: \n\nEstablishing presence and projecting confidence\nBuilding a network of supporters\nOvercoming imposter syndrome\nBeing heard in group settings\nBeing able to say “no” and setting workplace boundaries\nNegotiating to get what you want\nHearing from women who have overcome challenges and built successful careers\n\nThe event will be held on Saturday\, June 8 at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library\, located at 16 Castle Shannon Boulevard in Pittsburgh. Library doors will open at 9:15 a.m. for participants to grab coffee and pastries. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.

SUMMARY:Brazelton Touchpoints Center: Development is a Journey
DESCRIPTION:Brazelton Touchpoints Center is offering a course that aims to enhance the provider-parent partnership and engage parents and other caregivers in planning for their child’s developmental needs. \nLearn More\n“Development is a Journey: A Conversation Roadmap for Talking with Families” is a three-hour course that will take place on June 13. \nEarly identification and intervention are critical to promote a child’s development. However\, developmental screening results and concerns can cause anxiety for families and providers. Brazelton Touchpoints Center has developed a tool to help providers have collaborative and productive conversations with families about developmental screening results. \nIn this workshop\, participants will: \n\nExplore the seven steps in the roadmap tool\nLearn strategies to engage parents and families in the developmental screening process\nPractice having conversations about developmental screening results that honor families’ perspectives\, cultures\, and values\nLearn strategies to elicit parents’ observations of their children’s strengths as well as their concerns about their children’s behavior and development\nPractice sharing their own observations of children’s behavior with parents\nPractice next steps when a developmental screener yields reason for concern\n\nThe live\, interactive webinar will run from noon to 3 p.m. ET and 9 a.m. to noon PT on Thursday\, June 13. SUMMARY:Introduction to Medication Administration for Early Care and Education Providers
DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) and PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Early Childhood Education Linkage System will hold a two-part webinar series for early care and education providers on administering medication. \nLearn More\nIntroduction to Medication Administration for Early Care and Education Providers will run for 90 minutes on Thursday\, June 20 and Tuesday\, June 25. \nIn child care\, medication can be administered by child care providers to maintain the health of the child\, prevent illness\, or relieve symptoms. To administer medication\, child care providers must comply with laws\, regulations\, and best practices. \nThe two-part session is designed to educate child care providers who give children medication but are not licensed healthcare professionals. \nPresenters will include a child care health consultant and a training and technical assistance coordinator. Objectives of the course include: \n\nIdentifying different types of medication\, why medication is given\, and how it is given\nDiscussing how to evaluate and implement medication storage\, preparation\, and administration techniques\nSupporting appropriate documentation\nRecognizing and responding to adverse reactions\nLearning how to develop and implement appropriate policies\n\nMore Details\nTo receive credit for the webinar\, participants must attend both 1.5-hour sessions in their entirety and complete the course evaluation. SUMMARY:Collaborating for Inclusive Classroom Practices in Early Childhood: Focus on Attitudes and Beliefs
DESCRIPTION:Trying Together will host a course that examines how our actions are shaped by our attitudes and beliefs – and how societal attitudes and beliefs have shaped service systems. \nLearn More\nParticipants will have opportunities to explore the benefits of inclusion for all children and adults as well as reflect on how their individual attitudes and beliefs were developed. They will also explore how their beliefs and attitudes impact their practice\, their colleagues\, and the service system. \nParticipants will identify strategies that teachers can use to create a sense of belonging for all children in the classroom\, explore perceptions about disability\, and reflect on how attitudes and beliefs impact early care and education practices. \nThe course will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday\, June 27. The fee for the course is $10. It will be led by Shawna Preston and Jillian Miller. \nRegistration is now open for this course. The maximum number of participants in the course is 30.
