Next\, Dr. Alan-Michael Graves of the Good Plus Foundation will discuss the critical success factors for powerful and authentic fatherhood engagement at the community level. DESCRIPTION:Join Positive Racial Identity Development in Early Education (P.R.I.D.E.) at the University of Pittsburgh for their 2021 Speaker Series\, “Cultivating Genius Within Black Children.” Individuals may register via the online registration form. \nMore Information\nIn order for African American children to develop positive racial identities\, there needs to be buy-in from parents\, educators\, and the community as a whole. These sessions engage the public on topics relating to race\, education\, and young children by hosting powerful speakers to discuss these critical subjects. The sessions are both educational and interactive\, with audience members encouraged to ask questions and participate in the discussion. \nThe P.R.I.D.E. Speaker Series began in 2017 and welcomes speakers for Fall and Spring events. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning more about early identification and intervention to promote a child’s optimal development? Join Brazelton Touchpoints Center for an upcoming workshop to explore the “Development is a Journey Conversation Roadmap” framework. Registration is available online. \nMore Information\nThe Brazelton Touchpoints Center has developed a new tool to help family-facing providers have collaborative and productive conversations with families about developmental screening results. The Development is a Journey Conversation Roadmap facilitates these conversations with seven simple steps to enhance the provider-parent partnership and engage parents and other caregivers in planning for their child’s developmental needs. \nThis 3-hour\, interactive workshop introduces participants to the Roadmap and its focus on honoring families’ knowledge of their child. Participants will explore why providers and families sometimes have differences of opinion about children and screenings. Participants will practice strengths-based ways to invite all perspectives into the conversation and move ahead with equitable shared decision-making. \nIn this workshop\, participants will: \n\nExplore the seven steps in the Roadmap tool\nLearn strategies to engage parents and families in the developmental screening process\nPractice having conversations about developmental screening results that honor families’ perspectives\, cultures\, and values\nLearn strategies to elicit parents’ observations of their children’s strengths\, as well as their concerns about their children’s behavior and development\nPractice sharing their own observations of children’s behavior with parents\nPractice next steps when a developmental screener yields reason for concern
