Presenters will share updates on the 2021 budget process including the Governor’s proposal and how to influence state legislators to make increased investments in child care and pre-k. Additionally\, presenters will provide tools and resources for advocating at the state level. DESCRIPTION:Join Pitt SHRS Wellness Pavilion and Homewood CEC for free virtual workshops that will help prepare participants to address and prevent the traumatic impact of adversities in childhood. \nAbout\nResearch shows that 67 percent of the population has experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience. These trauma-based adversities are predictive of many toxic physical\, mental\, and social outcomes throughout a person’s lifetime. SUMMARY:Free Pediatric CPR\, AED\, and First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:The City of Pittsburgh and Trying Together are offering free in-person Pediatric CPR\, First Aid\, and AED Training on Saturday\, April 10\, 2021. This training is open to child care staff and early learning professionals who work or reside within the city limits of Pittsburgh. \nAbout\nParticipants will receive hands-on Pediatric CPR\, First Aid\, and AED training from a virtual instructor at two locations in Pittsburgh. Individuals who complete the course will receive a two-year American Heart Association HeartSaver certification. \nA limited number of participants will be scheduled at each location and assigned to each mannequin to maintain the safety of all participants. DESCRIPTION:Brown Mamas and the Birthing Hut are hosting their first Black Maternal Health celebration from April 11 – 18\, 2021. Join them for a series of free events centered on wellness\, birthing\, and justice. \nAbout\nThis celebration gives birthing and non-birthing mothers and fathers a chance to connect with their bodies\, learn about how to birth in ways that are beneficial for mothers and families\, and be educated on current fights for reproductive justice in our country. Events include the following: \nWellness Movement for Mamas\nSunday\, April 11\, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. \nYoga\, breathwork\, meditation\, and womb-awareness hula hooping are on the agenda for this four-hour Wellness Movement Session. Birthing and non-birthing individuals can drop in to join the wellness practitioners in calming and fun\, black-female-centered movement. \nDoula Speed-Dating and Info Session\nWednesday\, April 14\, 7 – 9 p.m. \nJoin the Birthing Hut and a host of doulas to learn more about how doulas can help you birth your way. In addition to tons of info on what doulas do\, participants will be able to have one-on-one time with local doulas. \nBelly of the Beast Film Screening and Q&A\nFriday\, April 16 \nGrab your snacks and be ready to drop your jaws as participants quarantine and screen this harrowing film chronicling the fight for reproductive justice by women formerly incarcerated in California State Prisons.
