The developmental screening tools ASQ3 and ASQ:SE 2 are designed for children ages three months to five years and designed for use by early childhood educators and health care professionals. Women are one-third more likely to work in a sector that was shut down during the lockdown\, more likely to be furloughed\, and 47 percent more likely to have lost or quit their jobs. SUMMARY:Virtual Vitality Cafés
DESCRIPTION:If your family receives Early Intervention and/or Family Support services in Pennsylvania\, join other families virtually for conversations focused on self-care\, health\, and wellness. \nAbout\nCafé sessions are intended for family members of children enrolled in Early Intervention Services or Family Support Services. To support participation\, a stipend of $40 will be offered. A child care reimbursement will be offered if needed to participate in the Cafes. Information on how to access the stipend/reimbursement will be provided after registration. Forms to be submitted for the stipend will be provided at the end of each Café. \nVirtual Vitality Café Dates\nVirtual Vitality Cafés will be held on the following dates: \n\n\n\nJanuary 27\, 2021  |  12:30 – 2:30 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nFebruary 24\, 2021  |  12:30 – 2:30 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nMarch 24\, 2021  |  12:30 – 2:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nReceiving Support\nSupport for families of children who are deaf/heard of hearing is provided from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. For other families of children receiving EI services that do not have diagnosed hearing loss and children receiving Family Support Services\, support is provided by The Office of Child Development and Early Learning. This will require ALL participants to pre-register and indicate what program(s) your child is receiving services and whether or not your child has a diagnosis of hearing loss. \nRegistration\nTo register\, complete the online registration form. Any accommodations (language or ADA) must be requested at least two weeks in advance of each cafe\, during the registration process. SUMMARY:Helping Children Befriend Their Emotions
DESCRIPTION:Join Youth Yoga Project and the Children’s Museum in a two-hour workshop to learn how to support the emotional health of children ages three and up. This workshop will help educators build a greater understanding of the important role of emotions and imagination in the classroom. \nAbout\nBy becoming more familiar with their emotions\, and learning an emotional vocabulary\, students are able to process and manage their emotions instead of allowing their emotions to overwhelm them. Through mindfulness\, children learn accessible ways to befriend their emotions. \nThis workshop is open to all educators who would like to learn strategies to incorporate these concepts into their work with students. Learn how mindfulness can be used as a practical tool for pre-k-12 students to build emotional awareness in children and teens. Educators will leave with specific strategies to empower their students to develop emotional awareness and emotion processing tools through mindfulness. \nRegistration\nTo register\, visit the online registration page. Join the Pennsylvania Head Start Association on February 11 for their Train the Trainer event\, “Move2bFree: How Moving Inspires Staff Wellbeing and Social-Emotional Health.” \nAbout\nThis two-part session is designed to enhance the health and well-being of dedicated\, hard-working staff who are serving young children and families. This session will address common issues of overweight and dental disease using concepts from I Am Moving\, I Am Learning\, the childhood obesity prevention initiative\, while incorporating lively music with health messaging from Choosy Kids. \nThis session is best suited for Head Start and Early Head Start program staff\, Early Childhood Education staff\, Home Visiting staff\, and community-based professionals (health providers\, family support\, etc.). \nLearning Objectives\nBy attending\, professionals will learn strategies for self-care and engage in movement\, self-reflection\, peer-to-peer learning\, and setting individual goals to improve health.
