DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Key will hold an upcoming virtual course that will introduce participants to the Youth Behavior Reflection Support Tool (YBRST). \nLearn More\nThe tool was specifically developed for program teams to use when they are faced with challenging behaviors within their K-6 School-Age Child Care (SACC) program. \nThe purpose of the tool is to help programs get started on looking at the behavior at hand\, the youth’s needs\, their current practices\, sorting through their feelings\, their family connection\, and begin adjusting the program to support SACC students. \nThrough reflection and assessment activities\, participants will apply knowledge learned during this course. SUMMARY:SAC Youth with Big Emotions
DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Key will host a course over the next eight months on how to manage youths’ big emotions. \nLearn More\nWhen youth have big emotions\, they might display them through various behaviors. This course will help providers identify these emotions and provide techniques to manage them. \nIt will provide an overview of brain development – including trauma – as well as provide strategies for coping\, such as co-regulation. DESCRIPTION:Trying Together and ELRC Region 5 are partnering to provide First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\, and automated external defibrillator (AED) training to early childhood professionals. \nAbout the Course\nThis PQAS-certified in-person course provides life-saving skills in alliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. \nCertification will be issued upon successful completion of the course. This certification is valid for two years. \nSession Details\n\nSaturday\, 2/22/25 | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.\nTrying Together\n5604 Solway Street\nPittsburgh\, PA 15217\nRegister\n\nThe cost is $38. \nPLEASE NOTE: Successful course completion requires full participation in classroom and skill sessions\, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations. \nParticipants will be conducting strenuous activities\, such as performing CPR on the floor. These include: \n\nUnderstanding the current landscape of summer learning\nCreating environments full of hands-on experiences in which youth can share their voice\, build connections with others\, and find a deeper meaning in their learning\nHow program leaders can build a sense of belonging\, agency\, active engagement\, and reflection in staff\n\nDay 2 \nThe second day of the bootcamp\, Friday\, March 14\, will include the following panels: \n\nBuilding and maintaining strong links with community organizations\, families\, and other partners to support youth success\nCreating a quality improvement cycle with all program stakeholders\nLearning that matters\, building skills\, and providing opportunities\n\nBoth days of the bootcamp are free of charge and will be held on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Trying Together will host a course that examines how our actions are shaped by our attitudes and beliefs – and how societal attitudes and beliefs have shaped service systems. \nLearn More\nParticipants will have opportunities to explore the benefits of inclusion for all children and adults as well as reflect on how their individual attitudes and beliefs were developed. They will also explore how their beliefs and attitudes impact their practice\, their colleagues\, and the service system. \nParticipants will identify strategies that teachers can use to create a sense of belonging for all children in the classroom\, explore perceptions about disability\, and reflect on how attitudes and beliefs impact early care and education practices. \nThe course will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday\, March 13. DESCRIPTION:The National Summer Learning Association is holding a free Summer Planning Bootcamp in March to prepare for the events that it will provide to millions of young people across the nation this summer. \nThe bootcamp will feature three sessions each day and is open to all. Attendees will learn from top education leaders\, youth development experts\, and programs that will share their resources\, insights\, and best practices on hot topics. \nThe panels on both days run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. \nDay 1 \nOn Thursday\, March 13\, participants will hear from three panels. These include: \n\nUnderstanding the current landscape of summer learning\nCreating environments full of hands-on experiences in which youth can share their voice\, build connections with others\, and find a deeper meaning in their learning\nHow program leaders can build a sense of belonging\, agency\, active engagement\, and reflection in staff\n\nDay 2 \nThe second day of the bootcamp\, Friday\, March 14\, will include the following panels: \n\nBuilding and maintaining strong links with community organizations\, families\, and other partners to support youth success\nCreating a quality improvement cycle with all program stakeholders\nLearning that matters\, building skills\, and providing opportunities\n\nBoth days of the bootcamp are free of charge and will be held on Zoom. SUMMARY:American Red Cross First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, CPR\, and AED Training
DESCRIPTION:Trying Together and ELRC Region 5 are partnering to provide in person and hybrid First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\, and automated external defibrillator (AED) trainings to early childhood professionals. \nAbout the Course\nThis PQAS-certified in-person course provides life-saving skills in alliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. \nCertification will be issued upon successful completion of the course. This certification is valid for two years. \nThe cost is $70. \nPLEASE NOTE: Successful course completion requires full participation in classroom and skill sessions\, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations. \nParticipants will be conducting strenuous activities\, such as performing CPR on the floor. If you have a medical condition or disability that will prevent you from taking part in the skills practice sessions\, please let your instructor know so that accommodations can be made for the practice portion. The CPR and AED evaluations must be completed with the manikin on the ground. \nInformation for Hybrid Sessions\nThe online coursework for hybrid sessions must be completed prior to the in-person class. Access to the online coursework will be provided via email upon completion of registration. Allow yourself 3-4 hours to complete.
