DESCRIPTION:Trying Together and ELRC Region 5 are partnering to provide in person and hybrid First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\, and automated external defibrillator (AED) trainings to early childhood professionals. \nAbout the Course\nThis PQAS-certified in-person course provides life-saving skills in alliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. \nCertification will be issued upon successful completion of the course. This certification is valid for two years. \nThe cost is $70. \nPLEASE NOTE: Successful course completion requires full participation in classroom and skill sessions\, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations. \nParticipants will be conducting strenuous activities\, such as performing CPR on the floor. If you have a medical condition or disability that will prevent you from taking part in the skills practice sessions\, please let your instructor know so that accommodations can be made for the practice portion. DESCRIPTION:Brown Mamas will host a public workshop in August to discuss housing in Pittsburgh. \nLearn More\nThe workshop will run from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday\, Aug. 19 at IBEW Local Union #5\, located at 5 Hot Metal Street. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with refreshments and a formal exercise beginning at 5:45 p.m. \nThe workshop will discuss how Pittsburgh has a surplus of 19\,000 housing units\, but more than 4\,000 are indefinitely vacant. Discussion will include how the city has so many houses sitting vacant\, while many people are desperately searching for a safe\, affordable place to live. \nPGH2050 is asking participants to also weigh in on which urgent priorities need to be addressed for the future of Pittsburgh – what must change and which big actions to which the city should commit. \nIn advance of the event\, people should fill out this survey.
