DESCRIPTION:The City of Pittsburgh and Trying Together are offering free in-person Pediatric CPR\, First Aid\, and AED Training on Saturday\, April 10\, 2021. This training is open to child care staff and early learning professionals who work or reside within the city limits of Pittsburgh. \nAbout\nParticipants will receive hands-on Pediatric CPR\, First Aid\, and AED training from a virtual instructor at two locations in Pittsburgh. Individuals who complete the course will receive a two-year American Heart Association HeartSaver certification. \nA limited number of participants will be scheduled at each location and assigned to each mannequin to maintain the safety of all participants. Face masks must be worn at all times. Masks\, hand sanitizer\, and other sanitation items will be available at all site locations. In addition to tons of info on what doulas do\, participants will be able to have one-on-one time with local doulas. \nBelly of the Beast Film Screening and Q&A\nFriday\, April 16 \nGrab your snacks and be ready to drop your jaws as participants quarantine and screen this harrowing film chronicling the fight for reproductive justice by women formerly incarcerated in California State Prisons. SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed Care Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Join Pitt SHRS Wellness Pavilion and Homewood CEC for free virtual workshops that will help prepare participants to address and prevent the traumatic impact of adversities in childhood. \nAbout\nResearch shows that 67 percent of the population has experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience. These trauma-based adversities are predictive of many toxic physical\, mental\, and social outcomes throughout a person’s lifetime. As a society\, we need to be better informed and prepared to prevent and address the traumatic impact of childhood adversities. \nFeatured Workshops\nThe following workshops are open to caregivers\, community residents\, neighborhood schools\, community organizations\, and anyone who works with youth: \nTrauma 101\nApril 5\, 2021  |  9:00 – 11:00 a.m. \nIn this multi-media\, interactive workshop\, participants will work together to build a powerful image that helps them appreciate the complex nature of trauma and its aftermath. \nTrauma 102\nApril 12\, 2021  | 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. \nThis workshop will build on the information discussed in the first training session.
