She has also been a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Cumberland County; In this capacity\, she assesses the services provided to abused/neglected youth and based on her assessment makes recommendations to a Pennsylvania Dependency Court Judge. DESCRIPTION:On behalf of OCDEL and hosted by WCCC’s Early Childhood Education/Pre-K – Grade 4 Program\, the “Behaviors: Ours & Theirs” mini-conference will focus on improving practitioners’ knowledge and skill to support children’s social and emotional development through culturally relevant practices\, as well as exploring how to apply these skills to practitioners’ CQI plans. \nAbout\nEarly childhood professionals are invited to attend a personalized mini-conference experience. Attendees will split into two groups and presenters will offer each session two times so that each group will have an opportunity to participate in both sessions. Participants will be provided with a continental breakfast\, welcome and introduction\, two educational sessions (each including a bound notebook of instructional materials)\, and a tour of WCCC’s NAEYC accredited Campus Children’s center. \nThis event includes 3 credit hours; PQAS approved. DESCRIPTION:Take part in the Implementers’ Forum\, addressing PA school and early childhood program systems. \nConference Information \nThe program includes: \n\nSchool Recognition: PA schools and early childhood programs implementing multi-tiered systems of support with high fidelity\nBreakout Sessions: Information for both novice and experienced implementers\nPoster Session: Highlighting PA schools’ and early childhood programs’ accomplishments\nUniversal Supports for Scale Up and Sustainability\n\nIntended audience: \n\nPAPBS network facilitators;\nschool and program-wide PBIS coaches;\ndistrict and school level leadership teams;\neducators\, including early childhood educators; behavioral specialists (school counselors\, school psychologists\, special educators);\nbehavioral and mental health providers;\ndistrict and state policy makers;\nfamily members and caregivers;\nand SBBH community of practice members.\n\nFeatured Presenters \n\nAnthony Biglan\, Ph.D.\, is a Senior Scientist at Oregon Research Institute. His research over the past 30 years has helped to identify effective family\, school\, and community interventions to prevent the most common and costly problems of childhood and adolescence. Dr. Biglan is a former president of the Society for Prevention Research. He was a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee on Prevention which released its report in 2009 documenting numerous evidence-based preventive interventions that can prevent multiple problems.\nKent McIntosh\, Ph.D.\, teaches and conducts research in the areas of positive behavior support\, equity in school discipline\, and sustainability of evidence based interventions in schools. He is the Director of Educational and Community Supports at the University of Oregon. Dr. McIntosh is the Principal Investigator of a three-year Institute of Education Science (IES) grant focusing on developing and testing an intervention to reduce racial/ethnic disproportionality in school discipline that focuses on culturally-responsive behavior support and strategies to neutralize implicit bias.\nLaura Riffel\, Ph. D.\, has trained thousands of teachers\, parents\, counselors\, psychologists\, administrators\, and bus drivers in how to make data-based decisions as a way to change behavior. Her trainings are filled with humor and make data collection easy to understand and utilize in any setting. Dr. Riffel travels the world presenting on Functional Behavior Assessment and on writing effective behavioral plans as a private consultant. She also presents on positive interventions and effective strategies for classroom teachers\, autism\, oppositional defiant disorder\, ADHD\, and learning disabilities.\n\nCredits Offered \nAct 48 hours\, BACB\, PQAS\, and Psychology continuing education credits are offered for keynote and breakout sessions. Credits will be offered per day. To receive continuing education credit\, individuals attending the Forum must arrive on time and stay the duration of the day(s) for which they are requesting credit. Participants seeking PQAS credit will need to print their certificates and provide them to their employer.
