They will also explore how their beliefs and attitudes impact their practice\, their colleagues\, and the service system. \nParticipants will identify strategies that teachers can use to create a sense of belonging for all children in the classroom\, explore perceptions about disability\, and reflect on how attitudes and beliefs impact early care and education practices. \nThe course will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday\, June 27. DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) and PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Early Childhood Education Linkage System will hold a two-part webinar series for early care and education providers on administering medication. \nLearn More\nIntroduction to Medication Administration for Early Care and Education Providers will run for 90 minutes on Thursday\, June 20 and Tuesday\, June 25. \nIn child care\, medication can be administered by child care providers to maintain the health of the child\, prevent illness\, or relieve symptoms. To administer medication\, child care providers must comply with laws\, regulations\, and best practices. \nThe two-part session is designed to educate child care providers who give children medication but are not licensed healthcare professionals. \nPresenters will include a child care health consultant and a training and technical assistance coordinator. Objectives of the course include: \n\nIdentifying different types of medication\, why medication is given\, and how it is given\nDiscussing how to evaluate and implement medication storage\, preparation\, and administration techniques\nSupporting appropriate documentation\nRecognizing and responding to adverse reactions\nLearning how to develop and implement appropriate policies\n\nMore Details\nTo receive credit for the webinar\, participants must attend both 1.5-hour sessions in their entirety and complete the course evaluation. DESCRIPTION:More than 50 years after Fred Rogers first appeared on television and asked viewers to be his neighbor\, the impact of his legacy continues to resonate. This summer\, the Fred Rogers Institute will host its second annual Work of Fred Rogers Conference. \nLearn More\nThe conference will be practice-focused and practice-informed. It will feature sessions from educators and other child-serving professionals who will share ideas\, stories\, and inspiration. Questions that will be explored during the conference include: \n\nHow does Fred Rogers’ work inform practice in classrooms\, communities\, and child- and youth-focused spaces?\nWhat can adults draw from Fred Rogers’ work as we seek to be children’s helpers in our world today?\n\nThe conference will be of interest to educators and practitioners who work in the direct service of children and/or families\, or who provide support to those who provide support to those who work directly with children or families. \nEducators\, clinicians\, and practitioners in numerous child- and family-serving fields continue to turn to Rogers’ legacy to inform their practice. His wisdom continues to inspire families and children’s helpers. \nThe agendas for day one and day two are both available. \nMore Details\nThe conference will be held on June 21 and 22 at the Fred Rogers Center on the campus of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. The cost for both days is $275\, while the cost for one day is $143. \nAct 48 credits will be available to Pennsylvania educators who attend the conference. SUMMARY:Introduction to Medication Administration for Early Care and Education Providers
DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) and PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Early Childhood Education Linkage System will hold a two-part webinar series for early care and education providers on administering medication. \nLearn More\nIntroduction to Medication Administration for Early Care and Education Providers will run for 90 minutes on Thursday\, June 20 and Tuesday\, June 25. \nIn child care\, medication can be administered by child care providers to maintain the health of the child\, prevent illness\, or relieve symptoms. To administer medication\, child care providers must comply with laws\, regulations\, and best practices. \nThe two-part session is designed to educate child care providers who give children medication but are not licensed healthcare professionals. \nPresenters will include a child care health consultant and a training and technical assistance coordinator. Objectives of the course include: \n\nIdentifying different types of medication\, why medication is given\, and how it is given\nDiscussing how to evaluate and implement medication storage\, preparation\, and administration techniques\nSupporting appropriate documentation\nRecognizing and responding to adverse reactions\nLearning how to develop and implement appropriate policies\n\nMore Details\nTo receive credit for the webinar\, participants must attend both 1.5-hour sessions in their entirety and complete the course evaluation. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Juneteenth\, the Frick Environmental Center will host Black Power Storytime on June 19. DESCRIPTION:CitiParks and Adaptive POGOH will offer one free session per month in which they will teach attendees of all ages how to ride a bicycle. \nLearn More\nThose who stop by will be able to practice in the park\, try an Adaptive POGOH or pre-register for an instruct0r-led group class. Participants can bring their own bikes or use one of POGOH’s. \nAges 5 and up will be able to learn while riding the half-mile Bud Harris Cycling Track along Washington Boulevard.
