DESCRIPTION:Trying Together’s director of public policy will act as presenter at The Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce’s Working Families and the Need for Child Care Workshop in June. \nLearn More\nThe event – which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday\, June 24 – is intended for owners\, managers\, supervisors\, human resources staff\, or anyone who is employed and needs help navigating child care options. \nAttendees will learn about: \n\nHow to search and find child care options near home and work\nPublic funding options to pay for child care\nResources to share with employees so they can more easily find and navigate child care\nThe state of child care and its impact on the workforce\n\nEmily Neff\, Trying Together’s director of public policy\, will be the event’s presenter. The event will be held at the Pittsburgh Airport Chamber Office Conference Room\, located at 850 Beaver Grade Road in Moon Township. \nMembers will pay $20 to attend\, while non-members will pay $30. Registration is now open.

SUMMARY:Juneteenth-Themed Storytime at Frick Environmental Center
DESCRIPTION:The Frick Environmental Center will host an event that will feature the reading of empowering children’s stories to celebrate Juneteenth. \nLearn More\nBlack Power Storytime with BOOM Concepts will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Juneteenth\, which is Thursday\, June 19\, at the Frick Environmental Center\, located at 2005 Beechwood Blvd. \nArtist and entrepreneur DS Kinsel will join Frick Environmental Center Director James A. Brown to read stories to children. The storytime will be followed by a short nature activity led by a PPC naturalist educator. \nThe program is open to families with children of all ages\, but is ideal for families with children\, ages 3 to 9. Caregivers must accompany their children throughout the duration of the program. \nRegistration is open.

SUMMARY:American Red Cross First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, CPR\, and AED Training
DESCRIPTION:Trying Together and ELRC Region 5 are partnering to provide in person and hybrid First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\, and automated external defibrillator (AED) trainings to early childhood professionals. \nAbout the Course\nThis PQAS-certified in-person course provides life-saving skills in alliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. \nCertification will be issued upon successful completion of the course. This certification is valid for two years. \nThe cost is $70. \nPLEASE NOTE: Successful course completion requires full participation in classroom and skill sessions\, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations. \nParticipants will be conducting strenuous activities\, such as performing CPR on the floor. If you have a medical condition or disability that will prevent you from taking part in the skills practice sessions\, please let your instructor know so that accommodations can be made for the practice portion. The CPR and AED evaluations must be completed with the manikin on the ground. \nInformation for Hybrid Sessions\nThe online coursework for hybrid sessions must be completed prior to the in-person class. Access to the online coursework will be provided via email upon completion of registration. Allow yourself 3-4 hours to complete. We advise completing the online coursework at least 48 hours prior to your in-person course.
