An ethnographer\, Desmond shares the intimate vicissitudes of his subject/friends as they struggle to make ends meet while negotiating a bewildering system of slumlords\, public agencies\, law enforcement\, and courts\, a system that seems almost designed to reinforce a downward spiral of poverty. SUMMARY:Public Hearing on Chapter 49: Certification of Professional Personnel
DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania State Board of Education will conduct a public hearing in Homestead to receive input from interested parties on draft proposed amendments to Chapter 49 (Certification of Professional Personnel). Registrations must be submitted by noon on June 11\, 2019. \nTestimony Limitations\nTestimony is limited to no more than 5 minutes\, and participants will be assigned a time slot on a first come\, first served basis when they register. If a hearing site reaches capacity\, the Board will place interested participants on a waiting list and will notify members of the waiting list if space becomes available. Each hearing will conclude after the last scheduled witness testifies. \nIn order to accommodate as many perspectives as possible\, individuals representing an organization are limited to a one-time slot and that organization may only present testimony at one hearing location. DESCRIPTION:During the month of June\, kids enter for FREE each Sunday at the Senator John Heinz History Center! This opportunity is available thanks to UPMC. \nAbout\nOn Sundays in June\, all children ages 17 and under receive free admission to see the History Center’s six floors of award-winning exhibitions and interactive learning spaces. Families are invited to zoom down a 12-foot spiral “Liberty Tune” slide\, throw an epic touchdown pass to legendary Steelers\, explore the Neighborhood of Make-Believe featuring the original set and puppets from “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood\,” and so much more!
