DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in child-centered play experiences that are focused on imaginative open-ended art exploration? Join Hatch Art Studio from February 15 – March 29\, 2021\, for their virtual “Hatch Art + Playdates!” \nAbout\nHatch Art + Playdates is a series of live and recorded courses that will happen weekly from February 15 – March 29\, 2021. The Playdates were developed through Hatch Art Studio’s child-centered\, joyful curriculum that is focused on imaginative open-ended art exploration with an emphasis on deepening critical thinking skills and developing creative confidence. \nThese Playdates are best suited for children ages two to eight years old. Playdates will be hosted in two sessions\, one for children ages two to five years old (at 9 a.m.) and one for children ages six through eight years old (at 4 p.m.). Themes will remain consistent across both age groups. A free sample of their lesson “What Could That Be?” is available on their website. \nPlaydate Topics\n\n\n\nFebruary 15\, 2021  |  Not a Box\nExplore the concept of transformation using loose parts\, a cardboard box\, and simple tools like masking tape\, a stapler\, and scissors.\nFebruary 22\, 2021  |  Making Marks \nDiscover the many ways artists can make a mark by combining everyday household objects\, paint\, and various natural materials to make your own paintbrushes. You will need tempera\, craft\, or acrylic paint for this experience.\nMarch 1\, 2021  |  What Can We Build? \nSave up your recyclables for this celebration of sculpture and construction. Bring your clean recyclables\, masking tape\, and scissors–and a hot glue gun if you are in the ages six to eight experience.\nMarch 8\, 2021  |  Let’s Make a Map! \nIn this class\, participants will work and play BIG using a giant sheet of cardboard (save those boxes)\, construction paper\, tape\, glue\, and other collage materials! Vehicular enthusiasts will enjoy playing with this experience for many days to follow!\nMarch 15\, 2021  |  Cook Up a Creation! \nIn this class\, participants will make their own salt dough using basic kitchen ingredients (flour\, salt\, water) and explore texture and mark-making as well. Modeling and molding are just a click away!\nMarch 22\, 2021  |  Art that Moves \nFor kids that love to move and wiggle and are fascinated by moving parts\, come enjoy art that moves! SUMMARY:Elevating ECE During Pennsylvania's Budget Process
DESCRIPTION:Want to learn how to influence state legislators to make increased investments in child care and pre-k? Join Trying Together on Wednesday\, March 31 for our online course\, “Connections and Conversations: Elevating ECE During Pennsylvania’s Budget Process.” \nAbout\nConnections and Conversations Virtual Check-Ins are interactive sessions that highlight topics of interest to the field of early childhood education. Participants will engage in virtual discussions with child development experts while interacting with early learning practitioners to share questions\, experiences\, and expertise. \nThis conversation will focus on early childhood funding in Pennsylvania. Presenters will share updates on the 2021 budget process including the Governor’s proposal and how to influence state legislators to make increased investments in child care and pre-k. Additionally\, presenters will provide tools and resources for advocating at the state level. The goal is that by the end of the conversation participants will commit to take an action and use their voice to elevate Early Childhood Education (ECE). \nCourse Details\n\n\n\nSession Date: Wednesday\, March 31\, 2021\n\n\n\n\nSession Time: 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nInstructor: Emily Neff and Shalonda Spencer\n\n\n\n\nCore Knowledge Area: Professional and Leadership\n\n\n\nRegistration\nSTEP ONE (EVENT REGISTRATION)\nTo register\, complete the online registration form.
