Join the “Reading Through the Summer Slide – Engaging Families Through Literacy” webinar to explore reading activities\, hear from educators in the field\, and more. \nHelp Students Manage Their Emotions\nBy attending\, educators will: \n\n\n\nexplore a variety of reading activities for mono and multilingual families;\n\n\n\n\nexplore ways for encouraging play that ties back into the text;\n\n\n\n\nlearn about strategies and tools for effectively communicating with families;\n\n\n\n\nhear solutions for reaching families in person and digitally from practicing educators at the classroom and district level; and\n\n\n\n\nexplore resources for placing books in homes\, including giving every attendee access to Worldreader’s digital library and summer family book collection.\n\n\n\nThis webinar is best suited for pre-k through elementary school teachers\, librarians\, school and district leaders\, ELL educators\, migrant family coordinators\, and Title 1 coordinators. SUMMARY:Identifying Allegheny County's Students Experiencing Homelessness
DESCRIPTION:Join Research for Action team members\, local education stakeholders\, and community members for coffee and conversation at the second Allegheny County Education Research (ACER) Project Town Hall. \nHomelessness in Allegheny County\nResearch for Action‘s second town hall will: \n\n\n\nhighlight Research for Action’s recent data analysis on Allegheny County’s identification rates of students experiencing homelessness\,\n\n\n\n\nshare recommendations on how school systems can do a better job identifying and working with young people who do not have stable housing\, and\n\n\n\n\nfeature school community members’ leading efforts to fully identify these students in the region.\n\n\n\nEvent Speakers\nBrian Knight\, Manager of Community Engagement for the Homeless Children’s Education Fund\, will facilitate the panel.
