DESCRIPTION:The CitiParks Office of Special Events has announced its Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park schedule for the summer. This year’s selection includes several blockbusters of recent years as well as animated classics and an independent film. \nLearn More\nMoviegoers can bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy movies under the stars at various neighborhood locations. All screenings are free and begin at dusk. \nIn June\, screenings will include the recent hits “Barbie\,” “Kung Fu Panda 4\,” and “Wonka” as well as longtime favorites “Toy Story” and “Pete’s Dragon.” Screenings will take place at Arsenal Park\, Banksville Park\, Brookline Memorial Park\, Flagstaff Hill\, Grandview Park Bandstand\, Highland Park\, McBride Park\, Ormsby Park\, Riverview Park (following Stars at Riverview concerts)\, Schenley Plaza\, and the West End/Elliott Overlook. \nAudio descriptive services will be available for two films – “Wonka” on June 23 at Schenley Plaza and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” on July 20 in Riverview Park. \nA special presentation of “The Peanut Butter Falcon” will be held in collaboration with Film Pittsburgh on July 28. This event will offer a preview of this fall’s ReelAbilities Film Festival. \nIn August\, there will be several pop-up films at varying locations throughout Pittsburgh. DESCRIPTION:Pittsburgh’s CitiParks Office of Special Events has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024 Summer Concert Series Presented by Citizens. This year’s four concert series will feature 23 free events\, including a July 14 performance by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. \nStars at Riverview will showcase local artists on Saturday evenings in Riverview Park throughout June and July. Each week\, concerts supported by the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) will be followed by Dollar Bank’s Cinema in the Park. \nBach\, Beethoven\, and Brunch will bring classical melodies to Mellon Park. This year marks the return of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to this program. The Highland Park lawn will host local musicians in the Reservoir of Jazz series\, which take place on Sunday afternoons in August. The concerts are followed by Summer Soul Line Dancing sessions. \nThis year’s Jam at Grandview on Mt. Washington will take place on five Saturdays in August. SUMMARY:Playtesting with Local Game Designers and Unpublished Games
DESCRIPTION:Pittsburgh Playtest is a monthly event that brings Pittsburgh-area game maker working on unpublished games together with local players and families for playtesting. Attendees can participate as game creators\, players\, or both. \nLearn More\nPlaytests include both tabletop board games and digital games. It provides the space\, tables\, and chairs\, while game makers bring their games and equipment needed to play. Pre-registration is required for those bringing games and recommended for those coming to play. \nAll ages are welcome\, although anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. \nPlaytests begin at 1 p.m. and participants are encouraged to arrive no later than 2:30 to ensure that there is time to play at least one game. Games are started on a rolling basis based on whoever is present. Game creators bringing games should arrive by 12:50 p.m. Free parking is available. \nMore Details\nUpcoming playtests include: \n\nSunday\, July 28\, from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Carnegie Mellon University (in the McKenna/Peter/Wright rooms in the Jared L. Cohon University Center)\nSunday\, Aug. 18\, from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at a location that is yet to be decided.\n\nThose interested in participating in the July 28 event should RSVP no later than Friday\, July 26. The deadline to RSVP for the Aug. 18 event is Friday\, Aug. 16.
