SUMMARY:American Red Cross First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, CPR\, and AED Training
DESCRIPTION:Trying Together and ELRC Region 5 are partnering to provide a hybrid First Aid\, Pediatric First Aid\, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\, and automated external defibrillator (AED) training to early childhood professionals. \nAbout the Course\nThis PQAS-certified blended learning course consists of an in-person class and online coursework.  The course provides life-saving skills in alliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. \nThe online coursework must be completed prior to the in-person class. Access to the online coursework will be provided via email upon completion of registration. Allow yourself three to four hours to complete. We advise completing the online coursework at least 48 hours prior to your in-person course. You will need to provide proof of completion by providing a copy of your completion email either printed or on your mobile device of class in order to participate in the in-person class portion of the training. \nCertification will be issued upon successful completion of the course. This certification is valid for two years. \nSession Details\nThe course will take place on: \n\nMonday\, September 16 | 3 – 6 p.m.\nTrying Together – Conference Room\n5604 Solway Street\nPittsburgh\, PA 15217\n\nThe cost is $38. SUMMARY:Inside a Child's Mind
DESCRIPTION:The Brazelton Touchpoints Center is hosting a workshop in September that explores how caregivers and early education professionals can understand the unique experiences and developmental processes of children. \nLearn More\nInside a Child’s Mind will explore how\, from birth\, children bring their own unique contributions to their development. Children’s temperaments\, individuals competencies\, and cultures all influence a child’s experience of themselves in their development process as well as their experience of the people and world around them. This workshop will explore children’s perspectives on their own developmental process from birth through preschool. \nWho Should Apply\nThe course is aimed at professionals who work with young children. This includes early care educators\, family child care providers\, mental health consultants\, home visitors\, pediatricians\, and early interventionists. \nMore Details\nCertificates will be provided at the end of the six-hour course. The cost of the course\, which begins Sept. 6\, is $140 per seat. Each 90-minute live\, interactive workshop will take place at 1 p.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT on Thursdays. DESCRIPTION:Spotlight PA will host a live panel in September to discuss Pennsylvania’s child care staffing shortage. \nLearn More\nTwo issues are currently plaguing Pennsylvania’s child care industry – many families find care unaffordable and inaccessible while workers are given low pay and often do not remain in their jobs for long. Business groups have urged lawmakers to take action\, arguing that the shortage affects nearly all economic sectors. \nChild care providers and advocates say the typical legislative response of tax credits for families and intermittent boosts of state money towards child care programs fail to address structural issues with the industry. \nPanel\nSpotlight PA’s Ed Mahon will host a panel on Zoom to discuss the staffing shortage as well as solutions proposed by lawmakers and advocates.
