CARES Act Funding Opportunity

Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, business interruption funds have been made available to address revenue loss due to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Allegheny County businesses including child care programs. These funds are being prioritized for child care programs in Allegheny County that:

  • have a STAR 3 or 4 rating;
  • are open and located in a high-needs area (based on poverty, unemployment, and education data); and
  • serve high-needs children and families (greater than 10% of children on Child Care Works child care subsidy).

To qualify for this funding opportunity, providers must meet the below criteria and provide documentation:

  • have fewer than 500 employees;
  • not be a government entity; and
  • not be a 501(c)(4).

Child care providers in Allegheny County must complete the following application form for funding consideration: CARES Act Grant Application.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through Friday, October 23, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. (EST). Applicants must provide an operating budget for 2020 with backup documentation (financial statements) showing financial losses due to COVID-19.

Child care providers with questions should contact their ELRC Region 5 Quality Coach or Edna Odoi, Trying Together Grants Manager, at edna@tryingtogether.org or 412.567.1305.
