Pittsburgh has been rated one of the best places to live in the U.S. But too often, Black neighbors aren’t included in that vitality. Local Black families experience disparities in wealth, health, education, and more.

Where does it all begin? At birth. In Allegheny County, Black babies are 5 times more likely than white babies to die in the year following birth.

The Black Birth Expo is just one way Healthy Start and other maternal and child health organizations are working to connect Black families to culturally relevant birthing and parenthood resources.
