Are you interested in child-centered play experiences that are focused on imaginative open-ended art exploration? Join Hatch Art Studio from February 15 – March 29, 2021, for their virtual “Hatch Art + Playdates!”
Hatch Art + Playdates is a series of live and recorded courses that will happen weekly from February 15 – March 29, 2021. The Playdates were developed through Hatch Art Studio’s child-centered, joyful curriculum that is focused on imaginative open-ended art exploration with an emphasis on deepening critical thinking skills and developing creative confidence.
These Playdates are best suited for children ages two to eight years old. Playdates will be hosted in two sessions, one for children ages two to five years old (at 9 a.m.) and one for children ages six through eight years old (at 4 p.m.). Themes will remain consistent across both age groups. A free sample of their lesson “What Could That Be?” is available on their website.
Explore the concept of transformation using loose parts, a cardboard box, and simple tools like masking tape, a stapler, and scissors.
Discover the many ways artists can make a mark by combining everyday household objects, paint, and various natural materials to make your own paintbrushes. You will need tempera, craft, or acrylic paint for this experience.
Save up your recyclables for this celebration of sculpture and construction. Bring your clean recyclables, masking tape, and scissors–and a hot glue gun if you are in the ages six to eight experience.
In this class, participants will work and play BIG using a giant sheet of cardboard (save those boxes), construction paper, tape, glue, and other collage materials! Vehicular enthusiasts will enjoy playing with this experience for many days to follow!
In this class, participants will make their own salt dough using basic kitchen ingredients (flour, salt, water) and explore texture and mark-making as well. Modeling and molding are just a click away!
For kids that love to move and wiggle and are fascinated by moving parts, come enjoy art that moves! Participants will need paint for this class.
The Playdate educators love to build scenes for playing using natural materials and parts we find around the house. Join them for some storytelling play as they sculpt a scene!
To register, visit the Hatch Art Studio website. Classes will cost $5 each. Registration for live classes closes 12 hours prior to each lesson. Recorded classes may be purchased at any time.
