Objectives:

• Describe racial awareness development (ie the ages and stages at which children develop an awareness of physical characteristics related to existing social categories of race in America)
• Use various strategies to assist staff in promoting and supporting children’s healthy racial awareness.
• Apply techniques in working with staff and families to generate conversations and activities that support children’s positive racial identity.
