The Old Schoolhouse Players will perform Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach” during six performances in late July and early August.

The musical, which is intended for the whole family, features a score by the Tony Award-winning team of Pasek and Paul (“A Christmas Story the Musical”).

In the play, James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, where he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach – and launches a journey of enormous proportions.

Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the peach, among human-sized insects. When the peach falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks, and disagreements. But the group ultimately learns to live and work together as a family.

The show will be performed on July 31 and August 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 at varying times. The Old Schoolhouse Players perform at 20 Wabash Avenue in Hickory.
