2023 Food Resources

Organizations throughout Allegheny County will provide meal distributions and resources to serve those needing food assistance through June 2023.

Food Distribution Events

Walk-In Food Distribution at The Hub

The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center, 7219 Kelly Street, Pittsburgh, PA. 15208 | 12 – 5 p.m.

Visit The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center every Monday from 12 – 5 p.m. to receive free food items, including sandwiches, fruit, baked goods, and more!

Participants may pick up a variety of perishable food items on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. This food distribution is walk-in only. Food items are provided by 412 Food Rescue.

Project Destiny PGH Drive-Up Food Distribution

2200 California Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212 | Friday, 6/02 and Friday, 6/16 | 12 p.m. – until supplies are gone.

Produce and pantry items provided in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. No income or proof of residency needed.

Uptown Community Food Distribution

544 Miltenberger Street, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219 | Saturday, 6/03 | 12 – 2 p.m.

Distribution will be held inside the Uptown Partners building and will last for two hours, or until supplies last. Bring carts or bags if you have them. No ID or pre-registration required.

New Light Baptist Church Monthly Food Pantry

3803 Frazier Street, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213 | Tuesday, 6/06 | 2 – 5 p.m.

Come to the rear of New Light Baptist Church to access the monthly food pantry. Food consists of canned goods, frozen meat, fresh produce, and dairy items such as eggs and butter.

Drive or walk up distribution only. No delivery. There are no income eligibility requirements to access this pantry. The only requirement to access the pantry is to provide an ID.

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Schenley Plaza

4100 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15260 | Tuesday, 6/07 | 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

The Food Bank will be in Schenley Plaza on the first Wednesday of each month from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. distributing a mix of fresh produce and a few frozen meat items.

Guests will walk through and fill a bag or box with free groceries. There may be some light paperwork required onsite to register.

NHCO On The Go, North Hills Community Outreach Food Distribution

The NHCO On The Go program seeks to address challenges associated with transportation limitations and make food available to as many people as possible. This program will take place on the same day at various locations around Pittsburgh. Times listed below are associated with the distribution location.

  • Fremont Square Apartments, 50 South Fremont Avenue, Bellevue, Pa. 15202 | 10 – 11 a.m.
  • The Free Store, 756 Little Deer Creek Valley Road, Russellton, Pa. 15076 | 12 – 1 p.m.
  • Blawnox Boro Municipal Building, 376 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15238 | 2 -3 p.m.

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank NO COST Farmers Markets

Hosted by Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) and Dontae Gordon, Food Equity Ambassador. Read a good book and pick some local produce to take home. Drive or walk up distribution. Bring carts or bags, if available. No ID or pre-registration required.

Community Human Services (CHS) Food Pantry Distribution

Food consists of bread, pastries, bottled water, dairy items which include butter, cheese, milk, and eggs, household goods such as paper towels, pet food (cats/dogs), fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, canned goods, pasta, and meat options which include pork, turkey, fish, and beef.

There are no income eligibility requirements to access this pantry. Walk up distribution only. No delivery. The only requirement to access the pantry is to complete a brief demographic intake form which can be completed on the day. Intake forms do not ask for ID or immigration status.

2023 City of Pittsburgh Farmers Market Schedule

All markets sell farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheese and baked goods. All markets accept food stamps (SNAP), credit, and debit cards as part of Just Harvest’s Fresh Access program. SNAP shoppers can get fresh, nutritious, and local-grown food, including produce, meat, dairy, bread and baked goods, produce plants, seeds and honey (hot prepared food items, alcohol, and non-food items are not eligible for SNAP purchases.)

Food Bucks give Fresh Access food stamp shoppers extra money to spend on fruits and veggies. For every $5 spent in food stamps, receive an extra $2 to spend on produce.
