July 1, 2021 Serve on the PA Pre-K Counts & Head Start Advisory Committee The Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts (PKC) / Head Start Supplemental Assistance Program (HSSAP) Advisory Committee is accepting applications for new members. About the Advisory Committee The Pennsylvania PKC/HSSAP Advisory Committee: advises the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) about the Pre-K Counts and Head Start Supplemental programs, is comprised of no more than 35 members who serve three-year terms, and consists of Committee Co-Chairs who assist OCDEL with agenda development and quarterly meeting management. View the full list of responsibilities. The committee was first established in 2007 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, and OCDEL. Who can apply? The application process is open to individuals who possess practical program content knowledge, skills, and experiences, including those of families members whose child(ren) or grandchild(ren) have participated in early learning experiences that will enable the Committee to achieve its goals. Committee members will reflect diverse geographic regions of the state and have a range of attributes, collective skills, and experiences. The committee is open to all who represent the interests of pre-kindergarten programs in Pennsylvania, including Montessori, private pre-k, religious-affiliated programs, and more.
