Join the Unite Against COVID Campaign

Are you interested in having an immediate impact on the health of your community? Join the Unite Against COVID campaign in Spreading Truth, Not COVID by completing their online Campaign Partner and Community Leader Training.

Spread Truth, Not COVID

Spread Truth, Not COVID supports community leaders in understanding the “why, when, why, and how” of COVID-19 to empower communities to conduct effective COVID-19 prevention outreach and engagement in underserved communities in Allegheny County.

What does it mean to be a community leader?

Community leaders are essential to the United Against COVID campaign because they know the lived experiences and day-to-day realities of the communities they represent. As a community leader, you can use your personal, professional, and social network to get the word out to help reduce the harm that individuals, families, and communities experience as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is critical that necessary dialogue with folks is happening at the neighborhood level, and you can help make that happen.

What does the training portal offer?

The training portal provides tips and practices on staying safe at home, at work, and while outside. It also addresses equal access to high-quality medical resources. Upon completion of the course, you will be officially certified to help save lives in your community by sharing knowledge and science. Community leaders can also earn “Community Credits,” which can be exchanged for free promotional items, giveaways, and event signage.

Any Time is 3Ts Time: New Parent Resource

Any Time is 3Ts Time is a nationwide multimedia campaign, supported by PNC Grow Up Great®, that fosters knowledge and builds actionable skills that enable parents to promote their children’s foundational brain development. At the core is the 3Ts—Tune In, Talk More, and Take Turns—a simple, yet powerful tool that equips parents to make the most of everyday interactions with their young children. These evidence-based strategies help parents develop their children’s intellectual and educational potential.

About Any Time is 3Ts Time

Any Time is 3Ts Time aims to create broad awareness of foundational brain development across communities and a deep knowledge shift within parents in order to help all children succeed. It includes online, print, and in-person resources that help caregivers support their young children’s brain development, particularly in the first three years of life.

Research shows that the way parents talk and interact with their child and how much has a big impact on children’s success in school and life. This simple tool helps parents optimize the power of language in everyday moments.

Additional information about Any Time is 3Ts Time and registration can be found on the Any Time is 3Ts Time website.

COVID-19 Update for Child Care Programs

As of June 10, all children ages two and older and child care staff must continue to wear face coverings to the extent possible during inside activities while the Secretary of Health Order for Universal Face Coverings is in place.

When does the order expire?

The Universal Face Covering Order expires on June 28, 2021, or when 70 percent of adults in Pennsylvania are fully vaccinated, whichever comes sooner.

Important Note: Even after the Order expires, children over the age of two and staff at child care facilities should continue to wear masks inside until further guidance is provided from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Does this impact outdoor activities?

The CDC’s 2021 Summer Camp Guidelines state that people do not need to wear masks when outdoors. However, in areas of substantial to high transmission, people who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings or during activities that involve sustained close contact with people who are not fully vaccinated.

Although it is not a requirement, some child care facilities may want their children to continue to wear face coverings during outdoor play. Programs are encouraged to consult with families to determine their wishes when making this decision.

Where can I learn more?

For more information on COVID-19 guidelines for child care facilities, visit the CDC website. CDC guidance is meant to supplement—not replace—any federal, state, tribal, local, or territorial public health and safety laws, rules, and regulations with which child care programs must comply.

412 Food Rescue Launches Home Delivery Feature

412 Food Rescue is launching a new Home Delivery feature to drop off food to people in need.

412 Food Rescue Home Delivery

During the COVID-19 pandemic, food delivery has been a necessary option for home-bound seniors and other vulnerable communities. To keep its communities stocked with fresh, healthy food, 412 Food Rescue will soon launch Home Deliveries as a type of food rescue for volunteers.

How does it work?

412 Rescue works with nonprofit partners to identify individuals in need of home deliveries. Recipients get matched with qualified Food Rescue Hero volunteers who pick up food boxes and deliver them to several households in one trip. Interested volunteers can choose which rescues to accept. Home deliveries are marked with a Home Delivery icon.

Join as a Volunteer

When first using the home delivery feature, volunteers will be prompted to complete a background check. A background check must be completed to accept home deliveries. The process is quick, simple, and free. To get started:

    • complete a background check (approximately 5 minutes), and
    • accept a Home Delivery rescue.

If You Need Food

If you need food, contact Pennsylvania 211 to be matched with available services in your area. Calls are free and confidential. Interpreter services are available in over 140 languages.

More Information

To learn more and see answers to common questions, visit the 412 Food Rescue website.
