Hundreds of sites are opening this summer throughout Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Somerset and Washington counties. Seeks Early Educators & Artists for Upcoming Art Festivals Recently, the Positive Racial Identity Development in Early Education program (P.R.I.D.E.) announced a call for submissions to Pittsburgh-based early childhood educators and Africana artists for the P.R.I.D.E. Pop Up Mini Art Festivals. About the Festivals Modeled after children’s activities offered during the popular Harambee || Black Arts Festivals, P.R.I.D.E. Pop Ups are small, half-day, outdoor art festivals hosted in three Pittsburgh communities: East Liberty, Homewood, and the Hill District. At the festivals, artists and educators engage young children (ages 3 to 8) and their families in hands-on activities. The goal is for adults to use art activities to teach children about their race and culture while building their positive racial identity. Who Can Apply This call for submissions is open to early educators teaching grades Pre-K to 3rd grade and Africana artists working in the following disciplines: Literature, Performing Arts, Visual Arts & Crafts, and/or Multidisciplinary Arts. Explore the longest OpenStreetsPGH route ever with 4.4 mile loop traveling through the East End. OpenStreetsPGH is a free, all-ages event that’s building healthier, more connected communities. OpenStreetsPGH invites the community to get outside and be active, providing an opportunity to reimagine our streets as places for people, not just cars. Schenley Park Skating Rink Open for Season Sharpen and your skates and get ready to enjoy another action-packed season of ice skating at the Schenley Park Skating Rink. The City of Pittsburgh’s outdoor rink is now open and offers a variety of skating sessions, lessons, and special events. Special Sessions The rink operates seven days a week and offers a variety of public sessions and lessons, including: Family Skate: Thursdays from 6:30 – 9 p.m. One child free with each paying adult (adult admission $5). All children must be accompanied by paying adults. College ID Sessions: Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 p.m.; Wednesdays from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.; and Sundays from 7 – 9 p.m. Present a valid college ID and save one dollar on admission (college student admission $4 during these sessions).
