Everyday Interactions Matter in Early Childhood. Learn How.

Are you an early childhood educator in Allegheny County who is interested in learning how to recognize powerful moments of connecting, sharing, growing, and belonging in your everyday interactions with young children? Join Everyday Interactions Design Strategist Sarah Grubb in August for a three-part professional growth series!

This series is open to early childhood educators in Allegheny County. Participants should commit to all three sessions. Six PQAS credit hours are available.

Series Details

    • Dates: August 10, August 17, and August 24, 2021
    • Time: All sessions run from 6 to 8 p.m.
    • Instructor: Sarah Grubb, Everyday Interactions Design Strategist

Everyday Interactions Matter

During this series, early learning professionals will engage with the Everyday Interactions Matter approach through a process of careful observation, discussion, and self-reflection. Authentic video clips of ordinary interactions between educators and children will serve as the raw material for deepening participants’ observational skills and self-reflection.

These simple moments that take place during play, transition, and daily routines form the very foundation of learning and growth for children. Through this reflective process, educators will begin to recognize the powerful moments of connecting, sharing, growing, and belonging in their everyday interactions with young children.

Core Knowledge Competencies (CKCs):

    • K1.1 C1 – Describe how child development depends on supportive and reciprocal relationships with families, caregivers, peers, and other community members.
    • K1.1 C2 – Illustrate for families, caregivers, peers, and other community members the impact their reciprocal relationships have on a child’s development.
    • K1.1 C3 – Examine how classroom practices support child development through positive interactions with families, caregivers, peers, and other community members to further develop reciprocal relationships.

Registration

To register, complete the online registration form by Friday, August 6 at 11:55 p.m.
