Transportation Lunch & Learn

The Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative is hosting a Transportation Lunch & Learn in March, during which Pittsburgh’s Safe Routes to School Coordinator will present.

Harriet Jackson, Pittsburgh’s Safe Routes to School Coordinator, will give a presentation on the city’s programs to increase the number of students biking and walking to school through education, encouragement, and safety improvements. She will discuss such improvements as Safety Week, Walk and Roll to School Day, and the Safety Town Summer Program.

Ted King-Smith, BikePGH’s education manager, will discuss ways in which BikePGH is promoting active transportation to schools and supporting teachers, parents, and other educators in implementing bike education programming in Pittsburgh city schools.

The Lunch & Learn will begin at noon on Thursday, March 27 at One Valley at The Roadhouse, located at 4165 Blair St. in Pittsburgh. Those with dietary restrictions should email plc@aplusschools.org.

Open Streets Pittsburgh in Homewood

Open Streets Pittsburgh 2024 will take place on July 27 in Homewood and the East End.

Hosted by BikePGH, OpenStreetsPGH is a free community event that temporarily closes streets to car traffic and invites Pittsburghers to reimagine their streets as places for people, not just cars.

The event in Homewood and the East End will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 27.
