Day of Black Male Solidarity

The Community Empowerment Association and Brother 2 Brother will host a Day of Black Male Solidarity on Saturday, October 17 at CEA Headquarters, located at 7120 Kelly Street.

The event is intended as a day for Black men and boys to connect across generations, strengthen one another, celebrate Black excellence, heal, and build solutions.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and includes empowering workshops, a healing and reflection panel, discussions, intergenerational dialogue, and a solidarity action plan.

4th Annual Homewood Community Health & Wellness Summit

The 4th Annual Homewood Community Health & Wellness Summit will provide a day of fun, fellowship, and fitness on July 27.

The event will celebrate the lives of Roland Ford and Olivia Jones – champions for the community’s well-being – and include a 3K run/walk in their memory. The walk begins at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating should meet in front of the Community Empowerment Association (CEA) in Homewood.

Other health-related issues addressed at the event will include:

  • Fitness activities such as spinning, double-dutch, and more
  • Expert-led panels tackling health issues specific to the community and offering resources
  • Health and wellness providers and businesses will be in attendance
  • Group medications, health affirmations, and goal-setting activities
  • Live entertainment from Jazz, DJ Mike Dean, and more
