Duolingo’s Early Learners First and La Escuelita Arcoiris

Duolingo’s Early Learners First and La Escuelita Arcoiris is an innovative learning community initiative designed for children from birth to age 5 and their caregivers.

The space will offer a high-quality, immersive environment that fosters development through play. The program is grounded in the belief that joyful, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experiences lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

Held weekly, in a bilingual environment and free-of-charge, the program is designed to empower the next generation with tools and experiences to thrive.

On Friday, January 10, Duo’s Treehouse will hold an event at the Kingsley Association in East Liberty, located at 6435 Frankstown Avenue, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Morning Circle will be held at 9:45 a.m., which will be followed by exploration and activities and a Goodbye Circle at 11:15 a.m.

Duo’s Treehouse to Offer Bilingual Play Experience for Children on Fridays

Duolingo and La Escuelita Arcoiris are inviting children – birth to age 5 – and their caregivers to spend time with them on Friday mornings at The Kingsley Association.

This bilingual – Spanish and English – free program aims to foster healthy development for children and support the adults who care for them.

The first Duo’s Treehouse event will take place on Friday, Nov. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will be held at the same time each Friday through Dec. 13 at The Kingsley Association, located at 6435 Frankstown Ave. in Pittsburgh.

The program is grounded in the belief that joyful, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experiences lay the foundation for lifelong learning. It is designed to offer a weekly bilingual learning experience to children and families who may not be enrolled in traditional child care.

Celebración Dia De Los Muertos

Families and community members are invited to join La Escuelita Arcoiris on November 3 for a “Dia De Los Muertos” celebration in Squirrel Hill.

About

Hosted at the Squirrel Hill Farmers Market, Celebración Dia De Los Muertos is a family-friendly event that features colorful activities, delicious food, and fun music to commemorate the Mexican holiday dedicated to honoring of our loved ones who have passed. Activities will include:

    • face painting,
    • piñatas,
    • flower-making,
    • cookie decorating,
    • a food truck,
    • and more!

The event will also feature pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) and Mexican champurrado (traditional Mexican chocolate made from ground maize flour.) The event will take place at the Squirrel Hill Farmers Market, located on the corner of Bartlett Street and Murray Avenue. There will be a parade at 12:30 p.m.
