Pittsburgh’s Cinema in the Park Series Kicks Off in Early June

The Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park series will kick off for the summer in early June in 13 parks in Pittsburgh.

A number of family-friendly movies will screen this summer – including Pixar’s “Cars,” the 1978 musical adaptation “The Wiz,” “Wicked for Good,” “The Bad Guys 2,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Hoppers,” the filmed version of “Hamilton,” and “A Minecraft Movie.”

The Sunday, July 26 movie at Schenley Plaza – “Film Pittsburgh Presents: ReelAbilities Summer Shorts” – will screen a number of short films that were selected by representatives of Pittsburgh’s disabled community. The special screening will serve as a preview of the upcoming ReelAbilities Film Festival. Audio descriptive services will be available on site.

Kids Day

Pittsburgh’s Schenley Plaza will be the site of Kids Day this weekend, offering free carousel rides, interactive activities, live performances, and other activities.

The event, which will be hosted by Peoples Gas, will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11. The free events – for which no registration is required – is held on the second Sunday of the month through October.

The event takes place at Schenley Plaza, located at 4100 Forbes Ave. in Pittsburgh.

3rd Annual Disability Pride Pittsburgh Celebration

The 3rd Annual Disability Pride Pittsburgh celebration will be held in late August at Schenley Plaza.

The event will be a day filled with live entertainment, resources, free swag, fun accessible games by the Ryan Shazier Fund, a sensory friendly room at the Carnegie Library, and guest speakers.

The event will have ASL interpretation for stage performances, ADA accessible toilets, shaded areas, and water to stay hydrated. Masks are encouraged.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Josie Badger. Those who register will have a chance to win gifts, and attendees can also sign up to volunteer.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 at Schenley Plaza, located at 4100 Forbes Ave. in Pittsburgh.
