Voting Power Hour: Homewood Hub to Host Election Info Session

The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center and Trying Together’s Policy Team will host an event to enhance voting knowledge and readiness for the Nov. 5 election.

Voting Power Hour: Quick Policy Pop-Up, is an hour-long session that will cover a number of topics relating to the election, including:

  • Voter registration
  • Absentee ballots 
  • First-time voters
  • Creating a voting plan
  • How voting affects one’s family and community

More Details

On-site child care will be provided during the event and refreshments will be available for all attendees.

The event will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 at the Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center, located at 7219 Kelly St. in Pittsburgh.

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will host three upcoming voter registration celebrations at its Family Support Centers in August.

The events will combine music, food, and a chance to register to vote or update voter registration. The three events will be held on:

  • Aug. 28, noon to 3 p.m. at Northview Heights, located at 437 Mt. Pleasant Rd.
  • Aug. 29, noon to 3 p.m. at East Hills, located at 2320 East Hills Drive Rear
  • Aug. 30, 2 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Duquesne, located at One Library Place

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will hold two upcoming volunteer opportunities for its national voter registration campaign.

Volunteers will be placed at tables during festivals with materials from the Urban League’s Reclaim Your Vote campaign. To volunteer with the Urban League, participants will need to fill out the free Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) form and the PA Child Abuse Clearance form.

The upcoming dates are:

Harambee Soul Fest (Williamsburg): 9 a.m. to noon or noon to 3 p.m. on June 28 and 30

Open Streets (through BikePGH): 10 a.m. to noon or noon to 2 p.m. on June 29

Those interested should fill out a form. Upon completing clearances, email them to sking@ulpgh.org.
