Youth Producers Meet-Up – Remake Learning Days

Calling all songwriters, beatmakers, and mix engineers ages 14-22!

Come to the Youth Producers Meet-Up to share your tracks, hear how they sound in a professional studio, get feedback from peers and professionals, eat snacks, and meet other creative young music makers in Pittsburgh.

This event is FREE to attend.

When: Thursday, 5/4 | 4 – 7:30 p.m.

Healthy Homewood Project

Join a free 10-week program to get on track to feeling like your best self! These classes will help you stay accountable to a healthier lifestyle with exercise classes, motivational coaching, and professional wellness advice.

Goals of the Program

This program is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh, Homewood YMCA, and the Community Engagement Center. The program seeks to aid individuals in the following ways:

  • Improve Health: Individuals can get help lowering their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol
  • Fit Friends: Individuals can make lifelong friends, bonding through a healthy lifestyle
  • Enjoy Exercise: Individuals can learn different types of workouts
  • Fun Foods: Individuals can get advice on how to make healthy meals

P.R.I.D.E. Pop Up Mini Art Festival

Visit the P.R.I.D.E. Pop Up Mini Art Festivals and experience fun activities designed to help young Black children learn about and celebrate their race, culture, and heritage. Children ages 3 to 8 will enjoy activity stations designed by trained artists and educators. Families are invited to enjoy free food, performances, art, and music!

Homewood Event Series: Redd Up

Join Operation Better Block this April and May for the Fuel Up, Redd Up, Get Up event series (4/12, 20, & 5/5).

April 20: Redd Up

The series continues on April 20 with an annual clean-up day claimed by the phrase “Redd Up.” This will be a day of volunteering for all to go out and clean the streets and sidewalks of Homewood. Sign-ins and tool pickups will start at 9 a.m. in the YMCA basketball court. The day will end with lunch at 11:30 a.m.

May 5: Get Up

The series will close on May 5 by gathering to cheer on the marathon runners as they make their way through the Homewood community. Volunteer sign-ups will be available for the marathon through Camille via phone at 412.731.1908 or by visiting the Operation Better Block office.

Attendees of this event are encouraged to provide your name and t-shirt size and will meet in front of the Homewood House from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Healthy Kids Day 2019

SCHOOL’S OUT AND IT’S TIME TO RELAX, DECOMPRESS AND HAVE FUN WITH FRIENDS.

Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain more weight and fall behind in studies.

Coming April 2019 at the Homewood-Brushton YMCA for this free community event featuring fun, active play, and educational activities!
