Buzzword is collaborating with the Clairton Family Center on the event. Each family will take a BUZZ Box home with them. Dinner will be provided. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Clairton Family Center, located at 734 Miller Ave. in Clairton. June 4, 2024 The Buzzword is EXPERIMENT As part of Buzzword’s programming, we distribute our signature “BUZZ Boxes” to local families to help excite children from birth to age five as well as their caregivers about new words that are all around them. These family engagement kits come complete with a high-quality children’s book and enriching activities that support early literacy skills and development. This month’s Buzzword is EXPERIMENT, which means the test of an idea or method. Our EXPERIMENT Activity Book will give children – ages birth to five – and their caregivers the opportunity to connect through science, art, music, and early literacy activities. Caregivers are encouraged to read through “Charlotte the Scientist Finds a Cure” by Camille Andros with their child. Then, they should go through the different activities and experiments in the EXPERIMENT Activity Book. Time should be spent explaining the meaning of the book’s words and connecting them to their child’s life experiences. We have also provided an EXPERIMENT book list of recommendations from the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for further reading. View the EXPERIMENT Activity Book and book recommendations. The activities are provided by Buzzword’s partners: ACH Clear Pathways, Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Buzzword will also collaborate with the Hill District Family Center and the Northside Family Center on the event. February 12, 2024 Buzzword MYSELF | YO MISMO Bilingual Event Join Buzzword as we explore our latest buzzword, MYSELF | YO MISMO, during a bilingual family-friendly event featuring early literacy, science, art, and music activities. During this event, children ages birth to five and their caregivers will engage with each other to create meaningful moments through interactive activities from our friends from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Interpreters will be present, and programming will be available in English and Spanish. Buzzword is collaborating with the Allegheny County Family Centers network, Kingsley Association, and the Latino Community Center on this event. Each family will also get to take a BUZZ Box home with them! February 10, 2023 Buzzword Day at the Theatre! The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has a special opportunity for children and their families who engage with Buzzword to get free tickets to “Buzzword Day at the Theatre!” This unique event features a “Big Bubble Bonanza” showing at the Byham Theater. Pre-registration is required. The Cultural Trust has 100 free tickets (4 tickets per family) available for this event, which include a free snack and transportation (from The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center OR The Kingsley Association to the Byham Theatre). Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
