Buzzword METAMORPHOSIS Family Fun Night

Join Buzzword PGH as they explore their latest Buzzword, METAMORPHOSIS, through an evening of family fun and activities featuring science, art, music and early literacy! During this event, children ages birth to five and their caregivers will have the opportunity to come together and explore the ideas of transition and change through activities from our friends at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.

When: Wednesday, September 27 | 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Where: The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center, 7219 Kelly Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15208

Dinner will be provided. Registration prior to the event is strongly encouraged.

Bible Center & Oasis Project Job Fair

Join this Project Job Fair on Friday, August 4, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Everyday Cafe (522 N. Homewood Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15208) to find your next opportunity with Bible Center Church and The Oasis Project.

On-site interviews will be conducted. Resumes and applications are being received for several positions open across the program areas of The Oasis Project.

Positions available include:

  • Baristas (Everyday Cafe)
  • Teachers/Assistant Teachers (The Maker’s Clubhouse Early Learning Center – opening in the fall season)
  • Farm Educators (The Maker’s Clubhouse and Oasis Farm & Fishery)
  • Part-time CDL Drivers (Oasis Transportation)
  • Volunteer Opportunities

Third Annual Community Health & Wellness Summit

One of Homewood’s signature community events is back! Don’t miss out!

Join several organizations, businesses, and agencies throughout the Homewood community on Saturday, August 12 for the Third Annual Community Health & Wellness Summit for a full day of events, resources, and health-focused opportunities for all community residents.

Here is the current schedule for the Summit:

  • 8 a.m. – Olivia Jones 5K Walk/Run/Ride/Skate/Loop
  • 12 p.m. – Double Dutch Competition
  • 1 p.m. – Fight For Peace Boxing Exhibition (tickets to be purchased at the door)
  • 5:30 p.m. – Kirk Whalum Smooth Jazz Concert

There will be opportunities to participate in health screenings and receive health-related resources and services. There will be plenty of family fun with aerobic line dancing, children’s activities, giveaways, music, and more!

The Summit is presented by the Community Empowerment Association.

Clothing Distribution at The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center

Families and individuals can visit The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center to pick up a variety of clothing items at any time during normal hours of operation.

Clothing Distributions

Clothing and other personal hygiene items are available on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. This clothing distribution is walk-in only, and participants can shop for clothing once every 30 days.

The following clothing/personal hygiene items are available:

  • Children’s clothing (all ages)
  • Children’s outerwear (all ages)
  • Adult women’s clothing
  • Toiletries and wellness products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)

Clothing Donations

The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center is also taking donations for the following clothing items:

  • Adult men’s clothing and accessories
  • Adult women’s clothing and accessories
  • Children’s clothing and accessories (all ages)
  • Infant/Baby clothing and accessories
  • Adult men’s/women’s and children’s shoes (all ages and sizes)

A staff member MUST accept donations.
