April 22, 2025 Homewood’s Hub to Host Warhol-Themed Remake Learning Days Event The Homewood Early Learning Hub & Family Center will host a Remake Learning Days event that revolves around the iconic Pittsburgh-born pop artist Andy Warhol. Learn More The hands-on event is intended for all ages. Participants will be able to make souvenirs and learn about the work of Warhol, who grew up in Pittsburgh’s Hill District before creating The Factory in New York City and becoming one of the 20th century’s most prominent artists. Participants will also be able to make a silk screen, which was one of Warhol’s numerous artistic styles of choice. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at the Hub, located at 7219 Kelly Street in Pittsburgh. Registration is available online. Remake Learning Days 2025 Remake Learning Days’ 2025 edition will include hundreds of events across four countries as it celebrates its 10th year. The learning festival for youth and families includes thousands of hands-on learning events for children of all ages at libraries, schools, tech centers, parks, museums, play spaces, community centers, and more. It will be held nationally between April 19 and June 15, although the Pennsylvania dates will be from May 1 to 23. Locally, Neighborhood North will hold a free event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at 716 14th Street in Beaver Falls. This event – intended for infants, toddlers, pre-K, and students in kindergarten through fifth grade – will explore how animals interact, adapt, and play with the resources in their environment. February 5, 2025 Remake Learning Days Accepting Submissions for Events Remake Learning Days is preparing for its 2025 edition – and participants have until late February to submit any events they plan to host. Learn More Remake Learning Days (RLD) celebrates 10 years in 2025. The innovative, national learning festival for youth and families includes thousands of hands-on learning events for children of all ages at libraries, schools, tech centers, parks, museums, play spaces, community centers, and more. It will be held between April 19 and June 15. Those who wish to submit a family-friendly event for RLD should do so by Friday, February 21. Additional resources, opportunities, and announcements from the event will follow afterward. Apply for an Event Host Awarded Participants can apply for an event host award of $150, $250, or $500 to help offset costs. Awards will be prioritized for learners in poverty, learners of color, learners in rural areas, girls in STEM, and learners with disabilities. To be considered for an award: Events must first be submitted to the RLD website. Events must be hosted during RLD across the Pennsylvania festival dates of May 1 to 23. Persons holding events must have permission from their organization to apply for funds that, if awarded, will be mailed to the name and mailing address listed on the organization’s W-9 form. The three-week festival offers activities for children ages two to 17 as well as adults. Learn More From May 2 to 22, families can take part in a variety of events and celebrate learning. Activities include building a robot, coding an art spinner, directing a film, doing scientific work, exploring the outdoors, making music, printing inventions with a 3-D printer, and more. The festival will include in-person and virtual events hosted by schools, museums, libraries, after-school organizations, child care centers, and tech companies. There are a number of free activities as well as others that range from $1 to $50. Most of the events take place in Southwestern Pennsylvania, while a few others will be held in West Virginia. Ultimate Play Day – which is co-hosted by Playful Pittsburgh, Trying Together, and CitiParks – will take place during Remake Learning Days. The event emphasizes the importance and power of play for people of all ages. The free event will be hosted at the Activities Shelter at Riverview Park from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. The festival will also include a performance of “Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster.” Color puppets and props will bring characters from Mo Willems’ book to life on stage. May 3, 2023 Ultimate Play Day Returns to Pittsburgh on Sunday, May 7 Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative, alongside event partners Trying Together, Citiparks, and ZeroFossil, will host its annual Ultimate Play Day from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Ultimate Play Day is an opportunity for people throughout the Pittsburgh region to gather together, play together, and raise awareness of the benefits of play for everyone. This year, Ultimate Play Day will be held at Lower McKinley Park in the Beltzhoover/Knoxville area of Pittsburgh. Local partners and community organizations offer play activities for all ages each year. This year, more than 28 vendors are participating with hands-on playful activities, entertainment, and refreshments. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of “playful” activities from vendors, including ultimate frisbee, basketball, soccer, imagination/dramatic play with costumes, bean bag toss, oversized classic games like Connect 4 and Jenga, and plenty of arts and crafts projects.
