Early childhood educators are invited to join the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust on December 14 for their workshop, “Promoting Self-Awareness through Dance.”
About
Dance offers children a way to explore their environment, engage with peers, and express their unique selves. During this workshop, participants will learn dance strategies that will foster all of these experiences by promoting children’s self-awareness. Participants will learn ways to bring these ideas into your center to create a classroom of students with strong self-control and body awareness!

Are you a parent, caregiver, or family member of a young child who receives Early Intervention services in Pennsylvania? Join the Temple University College of Education for Competence and Confidence: Partners in Policymaking Early Intervention (C2P2 EI 2019-20).
About
C2P2 EI 2019-20 provides free leadership development training for families of children who receive Infant-Toddler Early Intervention or Preschool Early Intervention Services. The training will provide participants with up-to-date information, leadership development training, resources, and skills. Participants learn about the local, state, and national issues that affect children with disabilities.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants should be Pennsylvania family members who:

- Have a child—infant or school-age—that receives Early Intervention services,
- Desire to advocate for themselves and others by building leadership skills, and
- Are willing to commit to all four 2-day trainings.

Trainings will be held on Fridays from 1 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

About the Storymobile
Storymobiles are libraries-on-wheels; taking stories, activities, books, and literacy resources to early childcare centers, pre-k and kindergarten classrooms, afterschool programs, public housing communities, and community events across Pittsburgh.
Focused on kindergarten readiness, Storymobile programming is designed to introduce young students to the joy of reading; expose them to challenging subject matter, including math and science themes, in a way that they embrace and enjoy; and reinforce skills recommended by state and federal curricula.
All children that participate with Storymobile will be signed up for the Books for Keeps program, enabling them to select a book to take home and keep four times throughout the year.

If your child is challenging you with their behavior, learn positive ways to interact with and manage your child’s behavior. At this event, you will learn how to interact, communicate, and bond with your child. This event runs from March 19 to July 16.
Benefits
Through the DINA School, your children will learn social and friendship skills, which will help reduce problem behavior. Your child can use these necessary tools to improve their readiness for school and increase their coping and problem-solving skills.
Schedule
Dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. and the class is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Please note that at least one caregiver must be present for children to attend DINA School.

United Way’s 100,000 Books initiative is giving away new and gently used books to support your students’ developing reading skills. A variety of books are available for various age groups, although this year’s selection appears to have more in the pre-k to 3rd-grade range.
To qualify, your program must use a mentor – reader model. This event is first come – first serve, so show up early. Bringing boxes is recommended. Register here.
What is 100,000 Books?
100,000 Books builds on research that demonstrates the importance of connecting a caring adult or older student with a child. This mentor model has been shown to have a significant impact on the life of a child and will be the primary model that 100,000 Books uses to support reading skills development. Mentors (teachers, librarians, youth workers, caring adults, older students…) will reinforce reading skills through one time and on-going read-along opportunities that will help kids to build this critical love of reading.
