June 12, 2024 CitiParks’ Learn 2 Ride CitiParks and Adaptive POGOH will offer one free session per month in which they will teach attendees of all ages how to ride a bicycle. Participants can bring their own bikes or use one of POGOH’s. Ages 5 and up will be able to learn while riding the half-mile Bud Harris Cycling Track along Washington Boulevard. June 10, 2024 CitiParks to Open Pittsburgh’s Outdoor Swimming Pools for Summer CitiParks is scheduled to open 15 of Pittsburgh’s outdoor swimming pools for the summer this coming weekend. Learn More The pools are scheduled to open on Saturday, June 15. The hours and days of operation are yet to be announced as staff works on lifeguard scheduling. CitiParks has recruited, certified, and onboarded 140 lifeguards for the 2024 pool season. The final training class for lifeguards was completed at the beginning of the month. The 15 pools that will open this weekend include: Ammon Banksville Bloomfield Highland Park Jack Stack Magee McBride Moore Ormsby Phillips Riverview Schenley Sue Murray West Penn Westwood Three pools are not opening for the season due to maintenance and staffing issues. Due to a major renovation in Homewood Park, the pool will remain closed. Ream will not open due to a cement and liner issue, while Sheraden is undergoing a number of renovations that are required for the pool and its building. Pool tags will be available on opening day at all open pool entry gates. Visitors can save time by completing their application before arriving at the pool. May 21, 2024 Pittsburgh Announces Summer Concert Series Presented by Citizens Pittsburgh’s CitiParks Office of Special Events has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024 Summer Concert Series Presented by Citizens. This year’s four concert series will feature 23 free events, including a July 14 performance by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Stars at Riverview will showcase local artists on Saturday evenings in Riverview Park throughout June and July. Each week, concerts supported by the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) will be followed by Dollar Bank’s Cinema in the Park. Bach, Beethoven, and Brunch will bring classical melodies to Mellon Park. This year marks the return of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to this program. The Highland Park lawn will host local musicians in the Reservoir of Jazz series, which take place on Sunday afternoons in August. The concerts are followed by Summer Soul Line Dancing sessions. This year’s Jam at Grandview on Mt. Washington will take place on five Saturdays in August. These will feature rotating selection of ales, wines, and spirits and music from new acts each week. May 3, 2023 Ultimate Play Day Returns to Pittsburgh on Sunday, May 7 Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative, alongside event partners Trying Together, Citiparks, and ZeroFossil, will host its annual Ultimate Play Day from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Ultimate Play Day is an opportunity for people throughout the Pittsburgh region to gather together, play together, and raise awareness of the benefits of play for everyone. This year, Ultimate Play Day will be held at Lower McKinley Park in the Beltzhoover/Knoxville area of Pittsburgh. Local partners and community organizations offer play activities for all ages each year.
